Q & A Should I Try Online Dating?

So you’re sitting home alone on a Friday night watching a cheesy movie when a commercial come on:

“Try online dating---it worked for me---it will work for you.”

And you start to think:

Should I try it? Maybe? What do I have to lose?

Unfortunately, the Bible doesn’t have anything specific to say about online dating. (Something about no internet connection back then---go figure.)

What’s a girl to do?

Here’s why I’m really not a fan of online dating.

Yes, I’ve heard the rare success stories, but I’ve also heard many many more stories of fraud, misrepresentation, and heartache.

Call me old fashioned, but I guess I still believe that the God of the Universe is capable of bringing two people who love Him and are following Him together at the right time in the right place.

Personally, I’d rather trust Him to guide my steps than a computer.

After all, HE knows everything about me and everything about the other person. Even though sometimes waiting is hard, I’d still rather hedge my bets waiting on God to lead and provide than spend my time chasing down leads on the often deceptive internet.

So those are my thoughts---I hope that if you’re teetering on the brink of online dating they will encourage you to stay strong, keep trusting God, and trust that in His time, He will bring the right person into your life.

Here's some verses to help you along the way:

Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.

Psalm 27:14

The eyes of all look to You, And You give them their food in due time. You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.

Psalm 145:15-16

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31
