One of my all time favorite quotes is from Anne of Green Gables:
“It’s it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?”
What an exciting phrase---what a great attitude to have heading into the New Year!
The truth is that it doesn’t matter what happened in the past---whether it was last week, last year or ten years ago….today you have the opportunity to start making new choices that will give you a better tomorrow.
You don’t have to continue on in the same old behavioral patterns. You aren’t obliged to stay trapped in the same old addictions. The pain and heartache of your past---whether it comes from tragedies, abuse, or even your own sin---does not have to dictate the boundaries of your future.
Today can be a new day.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit and by applying the principles of God’s Word, you can start a new journey, a fresh journey toward the life that God has always dreamed for you to experience.
There is an abundant life waiting for you---but it’s up to you to choose whether you want it or not.
You see, change doesn’t just magically happen. It takes effort---it requires choices.
Yet, when the right choices and hard work are applied, the results can be almost miraculous as your efforts combine with the Holy Spirit’s power to start a new work in your life.
I know because I’ve experienced it in my own life.
I’ve seen what the choice to:
Spend time with Jesus allowing Him to heal the wounds in my heart
Dive into the Word of God and learn how it can be applied to real life
Choosing to Obey the Word of God in every situation
And Taking the steps necessary to allow the Holy Spirit to heal the damage from the past
….can bring to life.
Each day I see the results of these choices producing joy, peace, and an overflowing abundant life.
Entering into 2017, this is my dream for all of you.
I pray that you, too, will make these choices. That you’ll refuse to waste one more day or year trapped in the mistakes, sins, and bondage of yesterday. I pray that this will be the year you experience true freedom and find healing.
I am excited for what 2017 has to bring.
Personally, I believe that this could be the best year of your life.
But it begins with your choices: Do you want a new start?
Are you willing to commit to the hard work necessary to change?
Do you want a new life?
God has provided all the tools necessary for you in His Word----all you need to do is apply them.
The first choices you need to make are:
I will commit to spending time with Jesus on a daily basis.
I will commit to reading God’s Word every day.
As the Holy Spirit uses God’s Word to show me God’s ways, I will obey.
The path to a New Year is right in front of your eyes. I challenge you---actually, I dare you---Go For It! Jump into the possibilities available in a future that is not bound by the past.
See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
