All Boxed In

Have you ever tried to over fill a box?

Have you found that no matter how many times you twist and turn the contents, taking everything out and rearranging it, that it simply doesn’t fit?

Eventually, you’re forced to face the fact that the limits of your box are simply too small to hold the capacity of what you’re trying to contain?

Yeah, been there; done that.

I’ve done it in the physical sense, but I’ve also found myself falling into this pattern many times in a spiritual sense. Too often, I’ve tried to make God fit into a box.

As I’ve struggled to contain His limitless wisdom, His unending power, or make His unfathomable thoughts fit into the parameters of my understanding, my ideas, my wants or desires, or even my beliefs, I’ve found that it simply cannot be done.

He cannot be boxed in.

I’ve also found that the struggle ends when I stop trying to fit Him into a box and allow Him to be Who He is and work in my life in the way that He sees best.

It’s when I abandon my boxes and follow Him without reserve that I am able to experience His freedom, His abundant life, and the full expanse of all He has to offer.

“He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted”

(Job 9:10, NIV)
