All Things

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

Romans 8:37

“I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.”

Philippians 4:13

Walk into any Christian bookstore and you’ll see these verses inscribed on a plague, embossed on a journal, or written on a greeting card. Famous for their words of encouragement, most Christians recognize them, can recite them, and know how to pull them out when an appropriate cliché is necessary.

Yet, sometimes, among life’s challenges, it’s easy to mentally replace the words “all things” with an “except for this thing” clause.

When our fears begin to assert themselves we wonder:

Does “all things” really mean this circumstance?

That person?

This obstacle?

My sickness? My struggle? My finances? My heartache?

Certainly, “all things” can’t mean THIS?

Yet, the powerful thing about God’s Word is that it is constant and absolute no matter what our emotions, our fears, or our mental processes tell us.

God’s Word is unchangeable, unstoppable, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS true.

It’s also applicable to every situation.

Hence, if you are “in Christ”, you can face whatever challenge is ahead of you.

If you love God and are living for His purposes, He has a plan to work YOUR THING out for His good. If you are a child of God, through the power of Jesus, you can conquer ALL THINGS.

Even the thing that you’re facing right now.

You see the thing about these verses is that they weren’t just meant to be displayed as a saying on a piece of artwork. Their true beauty is found when they are inscribed in your mind and on your heart reminding you that YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH THE GOD WHO HAS ALL THINGS UNDER CONTROL.
