When It's Time to Change....

When I comes to eating at a restaurant I am basically a creature of habit. Maybe I’m just boring or maybe it’s health issues but when I have to eat out I usually go to the same places and eat the same thing. In fact, I’m so consistent that I don’t even have to place my order at one restaurant. I just give my name and they have my order ready for pickup. It was a great system. Until last week..... That’s when they changed the menu and removed my “go to” item. For a moment, I was shocked. What was I going to eat? Should I just go to another restaurant? I didn’t know what to do. But because it was mid afternoon and I still hadn’t eaten, I was hot and I was bordering on hangry—I decided to give their new sandwich a try. Guess what? It was a-maz-ing. Absolutely delicious. Maybe even better than the sandwich I loved that got replaced. Who knew? While I was eating I started thinking about how this situation was a lot like life. Sometimes change freaks us out. We don’t like it. We want what we’re used to and the change scares us and even make us angry that we have to change. Yet, what if the change God has planned for us is better than what we currently have? What if we’ll like the change? What if it’s better than we can imagine? Once again I was reminded that when God presents you with a change, a turn in the road, or a new horizon more daunting than the change in a menu item, the best thing we can do is embrace it. Take a chance.—- a leap of faith. Trust that God knows where He is leading and follow Him with abandon. Remember that life with God is a journey. It wasn’t meant to be stagnant. Change is normal in God’s kingdom. The best way to discover our passion, place, and purpose in life is to go with the chance and see what God has for you. Who knows? You might even love it.
