You Are Loved

Sometimes we hear "God loves you" and it can start to sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher, “BLah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah.”

We all know God loves us…we hear it all the time. God is love…that means he has to love everybody.

But if we are really going to truly grasp hold of what it means to be a Daughter of God and have a Father/daughter relationship with Him, we’re going to have to push a little further and realize that this point really is more than just “God loves you because He has to love you.”

The truth is that God is absolutely crazy about you---as an individual.

He doesn’t just LOVE you because He’s God and He has to---He actually likes you.

I remember the day when this truth really began to hit home in my heart and mind.

It was years ago when a popular song came on the radio that cut my heart to pieces reminding me of all the things that my earthly Father believes is wrong with me.

In that moment, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said, “According to your dad you may be all of these bad things….but according to your Heavenly Father, all of those traits that your Dad sees as negative are positives. They are the things that make your Heavenly Father looks at you and beam with pride. They are the qualities He put into your personality when you were born because He had a plan and a purpose to use those characteristics exactly the way they are to make a difference in His kingdom. According to your Heavenly Father you are loved, adored, wanted, enjoyed, appreciated…it’s time to start seeing yourself According to Him.

Those words changed my heart.

For the first time ever I was really able to grasp the fact that God the Father created me the way I am and LIKES me that way. From that moment on, this truth changed my life because it set me free to be myself and even dare I say like myself.

Knowing that God really truly loved me and like me just the way I was with all of my imperfections and idiosyncrasies---set me free to as it says in John 12:1 find my true self and know that my true self was deeply and passionately loved by my Heavenly Father.

But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves.”

Finally, I was able to truly grasp the meaning of Scriptures like Psalm 147:11 that says:

“The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.”

The truth is that God doesn’t just tolerate you or put up with you…He truly from the depths of His heart loves you and wants what is best for you. You can trust that love and because of that, you can trust your relationship with Him.
