“Someday. That's a dangerous word. It's usually code for never.”
---Knight and Day
It never ceases to amaze me.
I hear it all the time---people saying “Someday.”
“Someday I'll take that class…
…Someday I’ll get that degree
…Someday I’ll go after that job
…Someday I'll go on that trip
…I'll try that adventure
…I'll do that thing I'm called to do”
And yet too often as it says in the movie, “Someday” it's just really code for “never”.
This year as were still near the start of 2017 I have a challenge for you.
I want to challenge you to make this year that you say goodbye to “someday”and you start taking the steps to making your dreams happen.
Oh, I understand God's timing. I understand it so well.
And I understand that things take time and there's a journey to get there.
Yet, as the old saying goes the journey to someday starts with a single step. Even if it sounds trite, it's true.
This year I pray that you will start your journey.
That you'll start taking the steps to doing the things you always say you're going to do but never quite getting around to doing.
I hope this is the year that you take that class,
...that you start writing that book,
...that you try that thing you've always wanted to try,
...that you discipline yourself to read the Bible,
...that you change your diet,
...that you mend that relationship,
...go after that job,
…. whatever it is I don't know. But I pray that this is the year that you start to make someday a reality.
“But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”
Hebrews 3:13
“What day is it today?
It's "someday"!”
