Bus Driver, Move That Bus!

The big reveal. Whether it be the beautiful transformations of Chip and Joanna Gaines or the wild out of the box designs on the reboot of Trading Spaces, my favorite part of any home repair show is the the final moments when the results of all of the hard work are revealed. It’s the highlight of the show! One of my favorite “big reveals” actually came from “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” with Ty Pennington. Now these people had a flair for the dramatic! They literally parked a bus in front of the house they were working on so that the homeowners couldn’t see A THING until the host said the words everyone was waiting for: “Bus Driver, Move that Bus!

When the bus moved the emotions would commence as the homeowners would see all of the amazing changes that occurred in their home while they were away. Trust me when I say, there were tears of joy and squeals of delight as all of the exciting changes were revealed. Week after week, audiences waited to hear those magic words and experience the big reveal. This week I have a thought thought for you to mull over: Have you ever thought about the fact that you are God’s “Big Reveal”

Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Think about it: You---your testimony---are God’s handiwork.

When you have done the work of tearing down your strongholds, learning and applying God’s Biblical principles of healing to your life and learning and living out new behavioral patterns…your testimony becomes God’s big reveal---the way that He shows the world what is possible through His grace, His healing, and His power.

That’s why I am a big believer in showing off the work God has done. Not in a proud boastful way, but as the apostle Paul did when he’d say, “I used to be this…but through the power of Jesus, I am different.” (1 Timothy 1:15)

You know, one of my favorite things to do when people come into my house is show off my laundry room. Sounds weird doesn’t it?

But yet, I’m really proud of that room. Whenever people walk through it I always love watching the look on their face when I say, “Oh yeah, we built this. It used to be the back porch, but we demoed the kitchen wall and attached this room to the house. We built the frame, insulted, dry-walled, and turned it into the room you see today.” (Seriously, it’s funny to see people’s reactions.)

Maybe one of the reasons I like this so much is that I remember how hard the work was.

We put in the work and effort, and today when people walk though that room they have no clue about the mess that had been there before---all they see is the beautiful workmanship that we live in and enjoy.

This can be your testimony.

Today, you may be looking at your life and seeing nothing but a mess. The heartache and pain in your life may seem unconquerable---insurmountable---like that one thing can never be overcome.

And yet, I’m here today to offer you the hope that through God all things are possible.

If you will follow God’s Biblical principles for finding healing and if you will apply the effort and commit to seeing the process through, there is hope for you. The mess that your life may seem like to today can be tomorrow’s testimony of God’s faithfulness.

The end result of all of the work that you put into Finding Healing is that someday your big reveal will be saying, “I used to struggle with this, but through the power of God, I now live in healing and freedom.”

And that’s how you become God’s big reveal.
