A few weeks ago during the quiet morning hours I was reflecting on all that God has done in 2018. So many changes!!! And yet, as I listed one after the other I could see that every change—even the ones that were unexpected and intimidating at first—produced good results in our lives. Looking ahead toward 2019, this reflection reminded me of God’s faithfulness. That He really does have a plan and a purpose for our lives. If we faithfully follow Him, we can trust Him to fulfill His purpose in our lives, producing results that are good for us and His kingdom. Once again remembering this truth fills me with great expectation heading into 2019.
It has me wondering, “What surprises are ahead for this year? What is in God’s imagination that I can’t even conceive of today?” It reminds me of the verse:
This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” (Romans 8:15 MSG) And beckons me to eagerly anticipate what’s next this year, trusting that the God who ordered and orchestrated the past will have the same perfect timing with the future.
